As the Capitals continued their Stanley Cup celebrations, and took a quick dip in the Georgetown fountain, their shenanigans didn’t go unnoticed by some other athletes.

Five-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky had some props to give Alex Ovechkin on his swimming technique, as he splashed around in the fountain with his teammates.

Ovechkin stripped off his shirt, ran into the fountain, swam, did some pushups, and jumped around in the water. Though he impressed Ledecky, Ovechkin probably won’t be adding “Olympic-level swimmer” to his resumé any time soon.

Ledecky is a life-long Washington Capitals fan. Her uncle, Jon Ledecky, was a former owner of the Washington Capitals, and she spent many of her younger years around the Capitals and Washington Wizards. She watched many games in the Owner’s Box.

Jon Ledecky sold his stake back to Ted Leonsis in 2001, and eventually entered a deal to purchase and co-own the New York Islanders.

Ted Leonsis is a huge supporter of Ledecky, and often links to articles covering her many, many achievements in her swimming career. It’s nice to see her continuing to support the Capitals in return.
