Alex Ovechkin partied all weekend with the Stanley Cup. He finally relinquished the NHL’s championship trophy Sunday night.

The Russian machine had a special message for Capitals defenseman Michal Kempny, who would be receiving the trophy next.

“Kemps, this is for you,” Ovechkin said. “Have fun. It’s fucking unbelievable. Enjoy, brother.”

Ovechkin then smooched the Stanley Cup.

“See you next year,” Ovechkin said to 35-pound piece of silver as if it were a real person. “Sleep well. I’ll be missing you.”

Monday, the Stanley Cup arrived in the Czech Republic for the first time in three years. After deplaning, Stanley Cup handlers allowed the media to take a photo of the trophy in front of the Prague Airport.

At sunset, the Stanley Cup arrived at Michal Kempny’s house.

He raised it high for everyone at his backyard party.

Kempny has big plans with the Cup on Tuesday.

“I’m definitely planning to [bring it to] Hodonín, where I was born, and to Brno,” Kempný said, as translated by RMNB’s Alexandra Petáková. “I spent seven years of my career in Brno and I owe a lot to Brno, so I think the fans deserve to see the Cup in Brno as well.”

Kempný was born in Hodonín, a small town located in the south west Czech Republic, near the border of Austria and Slovakia.

Capitals forward Jakub Vrana will have his day with the Stanley Cup on Wednesday.
