Shortly after 11:30am on Thursday, a crowd gathered in front of The White House, but not for political reasons.

The Stanley Cup, the oldest and most revered trophy in all of professional sports, was touring Washington DC and hockey fans flocked to each location. At this particular stop, Howie, the keeper of the cup that day, was helped by a very enthusiastic and tiny Caps fan to set up the championship trophy.

At another location, a baby was placed in the cup for a photo.

For many of the fans who got to see the Stanley Cup for the first time yesterday, there was so much excitement and disbelief. It’s not every day that you get to see a 125-year-old trophy.
